Nottinghamshire Authors
Nottinghamshire’s foremost modern author is probably ALAN SILLITOE, best known for his novel, “Saturday Night, Sunday Morning”, and his short story “The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner”, though he has published more than fifty books over the last forty years as well as more than four hundred essays.

Alan has featured in our summer book festivals and appeared during our film festivals, and we have been responsible, through our publishing arm Bookcase Editions, for reviving one of his books, Leading the Blind: A Century of Guide Book Travel 1815-1914.

A few of his books are still in print, but if you want us to look for one that is now out of print, contact our Booksearch (link) section.

We are proud to have been involved in book launches for several local authors, some of whom have now won national acclaim. Amongst them are Jon McGregor, John Harvey, Elizabeth Baguley, Stefan Collishaw, Clare Littleford, Eve Makis and Nicola Monaghan, all of whom have appeared at one of our Book Festivals, along with Derek Buttress, Elizabeth Chadwick and Catherine Arnold, to name only a few.

Local connections are very important to us and we are especially keen to support local history societies and also to form links with other Nottinghamshire organisations.

Email us at janestreeter@thebookcase.co.uk if you would like any more information about our local projects.
