History
The Bookcase was founded in 1996 by Jane Streeter and in it's first year scooped the prestigious 'Independent Retailer Excellence Award' sponsored by Switch.
Our aim is to give an excellent bookselling service and with our friendly team, (Jane Streeter, Jo Blaney, Eve Griffiths, Louise Haines, Julie Fay d'Herb, Jo Boyes and Marion Turner), you know that you are going to receive the ultimate in customer care.
At The Bookcase we are proud to be at the heart of the community. We are involved with many local schools and run Lowdham Book Festival & Flicks in the Sticks (our annual film festival).

We were proud to be shortlisted in April 2005 for the Independent Bookshop of the Year at the Nibbies - the book trade awards. The winner was the Aldeburgh bookshop in Suffolk and we send them our warmest congratulations.
Tokens
Tokens make great gifts and here at The Bookcase we offer National Book Tokens and Theatre Tokens.
Theatre Tokens can be used at most theatres and concert halls around the country. These tokens have no expiry date.
Book Tokens have recently been relaunched as National Book Tokens, with a new token design and a new logo. The tokens can be redeemed at most bookshops nationwide.
We also offer a wide selection of stationery - Items include :- Cards, wrapping paper, party invites, thank you notes, pens, gift ideas, and much, much more.
Location
The Bookcase can be found in the village of Lowdham, which is situated about 7 miles north-east of Nottingham. Taking the A612 from Nottingham or Southwell will take you into the centre of Lowdham.

At The Bookcase we participate in many events such as :- World Book Day, Childrens Book Week and National Poetry Day.

At The Bookcase we value our customers. That is why we have a loyalty card scheme.
This is how it works :-
Every time you spend £5 we stamp your Bookcase Loyalty Card - when you have a full card of 10 stamps it's worth £5
It really is as simple as that.
